Thamela & Victoria make World Ranking top 10 for the first time

Saquarema silver medalists Taryn Brasher & Kristen Nuss of the United States also bagged the entire 1,100 points they earned and that also helped them leap nine positions up the ranking, returning to number two in the world, the highest position the team has ever reached. On a score of 6,200 points from six qualifying tournaments, the Americans are still almost a thousand points short of leaders Svenja Muller & Cinja Tillmann of Germany, who took the bronze in Brazil last week and improved to a total of 7,140 points, but from a full set of eight qualifying events. Former world’s number one team Tina Graudina & Anastasija Samoilova of Latvia, who reached the quarterfinals in Saquarema, climbed two spots up to complete the top three on a total of 6,080 points.

Another team, whose Saquarema campaign ended at the quarterfinals, USA’s Terese Cannon & Megan Kraft, gained eight spots in the World Ranking and reached number four for the first time in the partnership’s history. After collecting medals from each of their previous four consecutive Elite appearances, Cannon & Kraft have now tallied a total of 5,800 points from seven qualifying events.
