Men’s Volleyball Drops Four Set Contest to Trent

Queen’s Men’s Volleyball dropped their Friday evening match up against the Trent Excalibur in four sets (22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 18-25).

In the loss, Reed Venning (Arts & Science) put up 17.5 points for the Gaels from16 kills, one service ace and one assisted block.

Through the first, the Gaels pulled ahead to build a five-point lead over the Excalibur with kills from Alex Brdarevic (Engineering) and Venning.

Trent fought back with a six-point run and pulled ahead to secure the set.

The Gaels and the Excalibur went point for point at the beginning of the second. They tied up the match several times however, Trent pulled ahead slightly at the end to take the set.

Queen’s maintained a lead through the majority of the third set, taking off at the at the 13 point mark. A big service ace from Nikola Mitrovic (Economics) led the Excalibur to call a timeout, which did not stop Mitrovic from taking another right after.

 With Trent increasing their errors on offense and defense the Gaels took the third.

The Excalibur maintained a consistent lead through the end of the fourth and went on to take the match.

Men’s Volleyball returns to action on Feb. 15, where they will take on the Excalibur for the second match of their doubleheader weekend. Fan can stream the game on oua.tv.
