Lancers Fall to Badgers in OUA Semis

The Windsor Lancer women’s volleyball team came up short Friday night in their semi-final playoff game, dropping the contest 3-0 to the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines.

Aryn Markett led the way offensively with 9 kills, while Danika Scharff added 29 assists. Sam Loshusan tallied 9 digs on defence, and Jordyn Brearly chipped in 3.0 blocks.

GAME FLOW

The Lancers showed their resilience early, staying within striking distance in the first set behind strong play from Abby Scott and Aryn Markett. Scott registered a team-high eight kills, while Markett added nine of her own, keeping Windsor competitive against the powerhouse Badgers.

The second set was a thriller, with the Lancers coming out with intensity and storming to an early lead. Setter Danika Scharff orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out assists, while Aliah Admans and Jordyn Brearley contributed key plays at the net. The blue and gold pushed Brock to extra points, showing great composure and forcing the hosts to dig deep. However, the Badgers managed to edge out the set 31-29 in a hard-fought battle.

Despite the momentum gained, Brock’s efficient attack proved difficult to contain in the final frame. The Lancers continued to battle, with libero Sam Loshusan anchoring the defense with nine digs. However, the Badgers capitalized on key moments to secure the victory.
