The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over the RMC Paladins on Friday, Feb. 14 in Kingston, Ont. The Blues had a strong performance on the road, winning with set scores of 25-14, 20-25, 25-16, and 25-21.
Iannis Toma was the standout performer for Toronto, leading the team with 12 kills on an impressive .611 hitting percentage while adding two aces and eight digs. Jayden Talsma matched Toma’s kill total with 12 of his own and picked up three digs. Michael Hickey recorded 34 assists along with three service aces and seven digs.
Hunter Arulpragasam and Luka Minic made solid offensive contributions as well, with Arulpragasam tallying nine kills and Minic four. Lukas Humle earned five kills on a .364 hitting percentage. Toronto maintained a team hitting percentage of .327, showing consistent offensive pressure throughout the match.
Toronto’s serving proved pivotal, with the team scoring nine aces, led by Hickey and Arulpragasam, who each delivered three. The Blues also showed defensive resilience with 29 total digs, helping to neutralize RMC’s offensive threats.
Tommy Roussel led the Paladins, posting a match-high 16 kills and hitting .303. Carter Liu was efficient with 11 kills on a .688 hitting percentage. RMC struggled to contain Toronto’s balanced attack and dropped to a 1-18 record.
The Blues play the final game of their regular season tomorrow (Feb. 15) afternoon in Kingston, Ont. as they take on the Paladins for the second time this weekend. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
