Russian opposite Tatiana Tolok, who led their victory in the second match, and German outside hitter Lina Alsmeier, who has been their most consistent player in the series, will need to step up on Wednesday as Novara return home needing a win to stay alive.
“This is a key moment of the season for us,” libero Eleonora Fersino reacted. “We know we can’t make mistakes, but above anything, we need to show on the court that we don’t want the series to end. We’ve been playing very well at home, and I’m confident we can repeat what we did in the second match. Conegliano are the best team in the world, but we showed we can accomplish big things, and we’ll try everything on the court. Whatever happens, our goal is to leave the court with nothing to regret.”
The two teams have faced each other 54 times already and Conegliano has won 42 of those encounters. Before falling in the second match of the series, the defending champions had won five straight duels.
