Dogs Upend Vert et Or To Claim First U SPORTS Medal in 21 Years

BRANDON, Man. – Jefferson Morrow and First Team All-Canadian Emmett Graham each had 12 kills apiece and combined for seven digs, as the No. 5 Saskatchewan Huskies claimed the bronze medal over the No. 2 Sherbrooke Vert & Or with a 3-1 win (19-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16) Sunday at the 2025 U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship Presented by Sunrise Credit Union.

The win marked the first time since the 2003-04 season in which the Huskies have taken home U SPORTS hardware.

Lucas Musschoot and Isaiah Mamer both added nine kills apiece, with Musschoot registering a .571 efficiency, while Noah Opseth racked up nine digs and 38 assists for the Huskies, who captured their first U SPORTS medal since their last national title in 2004.

Joan David and Hugo Ouellet paced the Sherbrooke offence with 18 kills to go along with 10 digs between them, but the Vert & Or were unable to reach the podium for the seventh time in program history and fourth consecutive season. Sherbrooke had won back-to-back silver medals the last two seasons, after last earning bronze in 2022.

Saskatchewan recorded a .340 hitting percentage in the match, compared to Sherbrooke’s .206

With the win, Saskatchewan ends their season in third place with an overall record of 19-9 in regular season, conference playoff and U SPORTS Championship action, while Sherbrooke completes their campaign at 19-3.
