Badgers drop narrow contest in Toronto

The Badgers fell short on Friday night.

The No.10 Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-1(25-27, 25-10, 23-25, 19-25) matchup against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Goldring Centre in Toronto.

Emily Foest led the way for the Badgers with 22 points off of 21 kills and a solo block, complemented by fourth-year outside hitter Laurin Ainsworth’s two aces.

Brock started the game off strong, taking an early lead but ended up dropping a tight back-and-forth first set.

Refusing to back down, the Badgers went on a dominating run, earning 11 straight points in the second set to tie the game up with a 25-10 set win.

The third set featured numerous lead changes as the Varsity Blues fought to earn the 25-23 win.

The fourth and final set was much of the same as the Badgers were bested by the Varsity Blues.

Brock led the way with a .194 hitting percentage compared to the Varsity Blues .147.

Ainsworth also led the Badgers in digs with 18 in the contest while Mackenna Knox had a game-high 47 assists.

Up next, the Badgers women’s volleyball team will rematch the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 4:00 p.m in Toronto. The game will be available to watch on OUA.tv.
